What do you think?  There are plenty of blogs about how to’s for hair, and not enough about the psychological side of hairdressing. However, I am finding the psychological side less interesting, and the creating of beauty more compelling!  Maybe I should change the name of the blog.

Katerina’s new look- Poppy and Bordeaux is a great example of what I am able to achieve with the new demi permanent hair color products by L’Oreal Professionnel.  Katerina is a great joy to work with, as she is open, and yet has clear ideas about the direction for her look.

Storyboards are always a great way to start the creative process when planning a fashion or hair photo shoot, and talk about a salon team building experience!  Recently, at Keter Salon, where I am coordinating their 2nd photo shoot, everybody presented their boards, and spoke of what is inspiring them.  When the last person finished, there were nine boards.  Beautiful!

We compiled the terms and looks that were similar.  Next, title brainstorming.  The title sets the stage for the looks, and gives the stylists a range to work within.  We’ve placed a sheet with working titles in back.  Then we will host the model call and finalize the looks, which will take about two weeks.  This process can go as slow or fast, depending on the group.

The idea is that these looks represent the salon, and help build the brand.
