Braided Hairstyles To Rock This Spring

We’ve talked about how braids are going to be huge this season. From classic plaits to fishtail braids, this style is versatile in every sense of the word. I’ve loved braids since the first time I’ve rocked them myself. They exude an edgy yet timeless look that can be styled for any age! They also give beautiful waves (even curls depending on how tight the braid is), giving you more options to style your tresses a certain way. It’s no surprise braids made it to the list of trendy hairstyles for 2022.

Did you know braids can protect your hair while you sleep?

It’s true! People with textured hair know this already, but let me share this tip with you. As you sleep, all the tossing and turning pulls your hair and causes it to tangle and break—we’ve all been there. Braiding your hair, whether in a ponytail plait or braided pigtails, reduces friction between your hair and your pillow. You can kiss tangles and unruly morning hair goodbye!

Below, I’ve listed three braided hairstyles you can try at home. They’re simple, easy, and you can even put your own spin to them!

Double-Braided Chignon

Step 1: PREP is key. Grab your favorite styling products and apply as usual, but on dry hair. Try Rake by Reverie.

Step 2: Divide hair into two sections: top and bottom. Pin top out of the way.

Step 3: Create a ponytail in the center. Do this for the bottom section.

Step 4: Braid the pony and twist it around the ponytail, then secure with pins or clips.

Step 5: Braid the top, without creating a pony, wrap around in a circular fashion, and pin in place above the bottom section.

(Optional): Pull a few strands in the front to frame the face.

Single Fishtail Braid

Step 1: Spray the hair with a little Mare Mediterranean Sea Mist Spray, and brush through with a mixed bristle brush.

Step 2: Pull your back in a ponytail. Doing so makes braiding easier especially if it’s your first time doing a fishtail braid.

Step 3: Grab the ponytail and divide it into two sections.

Step 4: Pull one piece from the outside of the pony across the top of the left side over to the right ponytail.

Step 5: Pull one piece from outside the pony across the top of the ride side over to the left side.

Step 6: Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you reach the end.

Step 7: Secure with an elastic.

Step 8: Gently tug the braid on both sides for an undone, boho-inspired look.

Braided Tendrils

Step 1: Work a little Milk by Reverie into the hair, and brush.

Step 2: Create a center part.

Step 3: Starting on one side, grab a small section near the part and tie the rest of the hair back.

Step 4: Braid the section until the end and secure it with an elastic.

Step 5: Repeat steps 2 and 3 on the other side.

Step 6: Untie the rest of your hair and continue styling it either by straightening or curling!

Remember, braids are for everyone.

Spring is just the perfect time to experiment with different hairstyles, and braids are no exception. Continue to try other braided looks until you find your favorite.
